Work Experience

  • Specialised in Computer Aided Designing for Leather garment pattern designing and grading and technical assistance to Leather garment industry, since 1994.
  • Training in Leather Garments manufacture covering cutting, Assembly and Pattern designing and CAD for leather garments designing and pattern engineering, since 1994.
  • Technical consultant for setting up of training centers in the leather garment production since 1996.
  • Serving as a Teaching Faculty at the Dept. of Leather Technology, Anna University, since 1996 in the subjects.

Significant achievements

  • Established a state of the art CAD centre for apparel & accessories and made “CAD for apparels course” as a calendar programme by conducting/coordinating more than 60 programmes.
  • Established a testing lab for objective evaluation of apparel leathers.
  • Introduced job oriented short term programmes in “Leather goods design and CAD for fashion design”
  • Co-authored the book titled “A course manual on leather garment pattern designing” which can be used as a hand book for pattern designing by students and user industry
  • Organised LERIG Conference during 2006 (Theme: GRIP-Global repositioning of Indian Leather Products) & 2009 (Theme: COILS -Challenges and opportunities in Leather Sector) held at CLRI, Chennai.
  • Involved in development of online course for Leather goods
  • Identified the relationship between the drape parameters and the mechanical properties of various apparel leathers and the findings of the study is a significant contribution in the area of drape studies on apparel leathers.   
  • Renovation and refurbishment of CLAD building with state of the art facilities including scientist chamber was completed and the renovated building inaugurated during August 2011      
  • Involved in development of novel leather products based on ethnic designs for the north east region of India
