Major Recommendations on Topics to be included for discussion in LERIG 2012

Adherence to Environment Regulation Norms and benefits thereof.
Creation of an Eco-labelling system for environmental audit of tanneries. (On the lines of the Leather Working Group (LWG) system)
Working out of the Life-Span of the Environment Related Technologies
How can new entrepreneurs be enticed to enter the Leather Industry?
The Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Technology needed to be revisited. Is sustainability there for this technology?
CSIR-CLRI needed to work out the practices of Treatment of Effluent globally and establish the Cost Effectiveness of these practices. He suggested that this could be discussed at LERIG.
LERIG 2012 must have discussions on existing technologies and analyze the pros and cons of these technologies and educate the Tanners about them.
Futuristic topics like Design Innovation, Value Propositions, Design Incubators etc. have been identified.
“Market Mood and Consumer Mood” be introduced
