Training Programme in GAIT Analysis

Target Group

Physiotherapist holding degree on BPT/ MPT, Orthotist and Prosthetist holding Diploma or degree on Orthosis and Prosthesis, Doctoral students/ Research Scholars pursuing research in the area of Gait/ Biomechanics, Any medical practitioners/ Clinicians.

Training Structure

The course will be conducted for 3 months. The training programme aligns with the level 6 of the NSQF and the Qualification Code is CLRI/TPGA/Q53.

Training Cost

The training fee for the course will be Rs.60,000/-.

Placement

The candidates who successfully complete the training are likely to become startup entrepreneurs.

1. ANATOMY OF HUMAN FOOT
a) Basic anatomical terms
b) Lower limb - bones, muscles, nerves and fascia, their functions in structural stability (static & dynamic); Science in Shoe Design.
c) Movements in lower limbs and Muscles responsible for it
d) Growth of foot from infancy to maturity; Arches of foot; Science in shoe design.
2. PRINCIPLES OF BIO MECHANICS
a) Reference planes of motion; Kinematics; Limb Movements; Motion of Joints.
b) Kinetics; Force; Momentum; Inertia; Pressure; Torque; Work, Power and Energy.
c) Free body diagram, analysis - biomechanics of walking, running.
3. BASICS OF GAIT
a) Terminology used in Gait; Gait Parameters Definition; Phases of Gait cycle.
b) Kinetics and Kinematics of Gait: Balance and Posture; Ground Reaction Force.
c) Energy requirements; Energy consumption.
4. PATHOLOGIC GAIT ABNORMALITIES
a) Abnormal walking base; Abnormalities due to pain.
b) Abnormalities due to muscle weakness.
5. GAIT ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE
a) Visual/observational gait analysis; 2D video analysis; 3D video analysis.
b) Inertial sensors; Electro goniometers; Force platforms; Wearable sensors.
c) Pressure platforms; Electromyography.
6. Practical Session & Soft Skills
