Smart Leathers Responsive To Electrical And Magnetic Fields

The technology incorporates smart functionalities such as electrical conductivity and magnetism in leather for new application avenues

Natural leather does not find applications in smart or advanced products such as smart gloves, electronic devices, sensors and electromagnetic interference shielding {EMI} applications. The technology aims to find new application avenues to leather for high unit value realization.

Sizing System For Children Shoes

Technology Outline

Optimization of Children's Shoe sizes based on a Novel method of "Cluster Analysis" from the foot data gathered through a "Digital Capture" of the Children's foot.

Salient Features/ Highlights/ Advantages

The over-riding theme of the shoes developed was to accommodate the foot growth in children and reduce the frequency of footwear change by means of properfitting.

Business Case and Translation Status

The technology provides Considerable reduction in production cost as the set of last reduced from 13 to 5 in number, leading to reduction in pattern making time, die cost and sole mould cost. The package contains Parameters for Making Last for Children aged between 6 to l O years. The Comfort of the Children's Shoes developed using this new last was studied through the Gait Analysis of Children wearing the New Shoes and the Pressure patterns were studied to establish the efficacy of the new shoes developed.

Diabetic Footwear

Technology Outline

The therapeutic footwear with a full length PU foam inner sole to cradle and support the foot; PU molded outer sole with extra depth to accommodate layers of foams and having tread patterns selectively provided for better grip and traction; an upper to accommodate feet of varying volumes; counter stiffener along with padded ankle support was constructed.

Salient Features/ Highlights/ Advantages

This footwear was developed for prevention of foot complications in Persons with Diabetes. The footwear highlights the use of biomechanical principles in designing the correct footwear and materials for satisfying the requirements of scientifically appropriate footwear for diabetics to provide better shock absorption, reduced friction, better comfort and wear properties and most importantly helps in redistributing pressure uniformly on the plantar surface of the footto prevent callus and ulcer formation.

Business Case and Translation Status

It is a matter of great pleasure and pride that "DIASTEP" is now commercialized by M/s M V Health Care Pvt. Ltd. and thousands of patients have benefitted from this footwear.
