About Us

Microbiology Laboratory, CSIR-CLRI is involved in the following list of activities,

Research and Development:

Research with reference to (i) identify and develop suitable microbial cultures (air, water, soil, marine sources) for pollutants abatement, metabolites production and application studies for industries, (ii) enzymatic route for chemical synthesis and pollution management, (iii) antimicrobial studies for phytochemicals, natural and synthetic compounds, (iv) biological material development and assessment for its suitability for human needs, (v)  management of resistant microbes and drug development, (vi) kit development for identification of origin of species, (vii) skin infections and control, tissue engineering for microbial infection abatement (viii),  development of tissue mimics to assess the infection, develop control methods, and toxicity., (ix) nanoformualtions of biological molecules for industrial and clinical applications.

Human Resource Development:

Supporting the students to pursue Academic degress, PhD, MS (By Research), M.Tech under AcSIR, University of Madras and Anna University.

Supporting the students (school, graduate and post graduate) to pursue inplant, short-term, long term project training.

Training: Training on microbiology, enzymology, product development and evaluation, drug assessment test for industries (Leather, Textiles, Polymers)

Testing: Testing services for the anti microbial tests for the products of major industrial sectors (Leather, Textiles and chemicals and Food) in co-ordination with CATERS, CSIR-CLRI.

Consultancy services: For major industries on microbial control, evaluation and development of testing protocols.
